Foreign Minister Westerwelle to meet UN Special Representative for Afghanistan

At the Federal Foreign Office today (14 March), Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle will meet for talks with Ján Kubiš, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan. Mr Kubiš, whose previous roles include Foreign Minister of Slovakia and Secretary-General of the OSCE, is also serving as Head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in Kabul.

The talks at the Foreign Office will focus on progress made towards completely transferring responsibility for security to Afghanistan, the political process of domestic reconciliation and long-term support for Afghanistan after the security hand-over at the end of 2014.
